2026 Ulster Primary Schools’ Cup Team Championships 

The 5th February 2026 was the date set aside for the Kingfisher Ulster Schools’ Cup Primary Schools’ table tennis team finals to be held in our new venue the South Lakes LC in Craigavon. The move was required as the event attendances had outgrown the Banbridge LC venue.

However with 72 pupils (exc. Subs) in 18 teams from 9 Primary Schools all trying to win one of the six events contested were significantly lower than our record attendance back in 2024 when 43 teams and 172 pupils from 10 schools participated.

The event still had plenty of excellent play, tight matches were the order of the day and all the players and teachers had big smiles when receiving their certificates and/or medals at the conclusion of the day.  I am pleased that everyone seemed happy with the new location which is set to become the home of Ulster Schools Table tennis for the foreseeable future.

There was a good spread of winners with the two main events, the U12 Boys and U12 girls team events won by Strandtown PS and The Irish Society, Coleraine  respectively.. Both Strandtown and The Irish Society will now represent Ulster in the All-Ireland finals in the National Indoor Arena in Dublin on the 23^rd  April. Please note the date and venue will be confirmed in March.

The U10 Boys event was also won by Strandtown PS who presently have a rich crop of talent playing in the school while newcomers Cairnshill Integrated won the gold in the U10 Girls.

A big thank you to all the players for attending and all the teachers, TTU officials, Leisure Centre staff and the small dedicated group of volunteers who ensured that the event took place.  Also a big thank you must go to Craigavon TTC for the use of their excellent tables which helped make  the event a memorable experience. And last but not least,  a big thank you to Kingfisher Financial for their continued sponsorship of Primary School table tennis in Ulster.

Hopefully the low attendance is a temporary blip and numbers will increase for the Kingfisher SE Regional Singles event on the 5^th March in Craigavon, the Kingfisher NE Regional Singles in Ballymoney on the19th March and the highlight of the Primary School table tennis season, the Kingfisher Ulster Schools Cup Singles on the 20^th April.
