Schools Table Tennis

Table Tennis Ireland (TTI) is the governing body for table tennis across the island of Ireland. The development and promotion of the sport in the four provinces are managed by provincial bodies, including Table Tennis Ulster (TTU).

Under the banner of TTU Schools Table Tennis, we offer two key provincial competitions for both Post-Primary and Primary Schools:

  1. The Ulster Schools’ Cup for Teams
  2. The Ulster Schools’ Cup for Individuals

In addition to these, TTU organises five Regional Individual Events for schools located in Belfast, and the Northeast (NE), Southeast (SE), Northwest (NW), and Southwest (SW) regions of Ulster. Altogether, this results in 14 events annually, providing widespread opportunities for schools across Ulster to participate in table tennis.

These competitions build on the remarkable legacy of the Ulster Schools’ Table Tennis Association (USTTA), which for 50 years managed these events. The USTTA merged with TTU in 2023 and officially dissolved in 2024, passing on its invaluable heritage to TTU.

Each year, Table Tennis Ireland organises the All-Ireland Team Finals. Schools that win the Ulster Schools’ Cup in the three Post Primary categories (U19, U15, U13) and the U12 category for Primary Schools qualify to represent Ulster at these prestigious finals.

Affiliation and Participation Costs:

  • Annual School Affiliation: £25
  • Entry Fee per Player per Event: £5

We hope this brief overview has inspired your school to engage with table tennis and take advantage of the exciting opportunities these competitions offer.

Warm regards,
Norman McBride
