Whether you’re new to table tennis or looking to deepen your coaching expertise, we offer a range of courses to support you at every stage of your coaching journey. Each course is designed to equip you with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to introduce, develop, and advance table tennis players at all levels.
The Activators Award is the perfect entry point for anyone interested in coaching table tennis at the grassroots level.
Overview: This course provides creative ideas for fun-based table tennis activities and fundamental skills that can be delivered to players of all ages and abilities.
Who It’s For: No table tennis background is required. Suitable for teachers, parents, volunteers, and enthusiasts who want to promote the sport in schools, youth centres, community hubs, and clubs.
Qualification: Coaches with this qualification can introduce table tennis to beginners and assist as coaches in clubs.
Course Format: One session, approximately 4 hours, with a focus on practical, enjoyable learning.
Materials Provided: All participants receive a coaching manual for continued guidance.
Age Requirement: Open to candidates aged 15 and above.
The Level 1 Session Coach course is the next step on the coaching pathway, providing the skills to plan and deliver structured table tennis coaching sessions.
Overview: This course offers a mix of theory and practical training, covering essential coaching skills for beginners and intermediate players.
Who It’s For: Suitable for Junior (16+), Senior players, club volunteers, parents with table tennis backgrounds, and qualified Activator Award Coaches (recommended with 1-2 years of experience).
Qualification: Level 1 Coaches can lead sessions at clubs and may also assist in provincial/national training camps or serve as Non-Playing Captains (NPCs) for junior teams.
Course Format: A two-day course with 8-10 weeks between sessions, including home study and practical coaching tasks.
Materials Provided: Participants receive a comprehensive coaching manual.
Age Requirement: Open to candidates aged 16 and above.
The Level 2 Coaching Award is for coaches ready to deepen their technical and tactical knowledge and support player development at advanced levels.
Overview: This advanced course delves into the technical, tactical, physical, and mental aspects of table tennis, preparing coaches to develop competitive players.
Who It’s For: Coaches must have completed the Level 1 qualification and have at least two years of coaching experience.
Qualification: Level 2 Coaches play a key role in the Player Development Pathway, coaching at club, provincial, and national levels. They may coach high-performance junior/senior players and serve as NPCs for provincial or national senior teams.
Course Format: In-depth, practical sessions designed to enhance coaching for high-level competition.
Materials Provided: Includes an advanced coaching manual.
Age Requirement: Open to candidates aged 18 and above.
