A thrilling day of inter-provincial table tennis unfolded on Saturday, 17 May, at Glenburn Table Tennis Club, where teams from Belfast and Leinster clashed across all three League divisions. In front of a lively home crowd, Belfast delivered a clean sweep, showcasing power, precision, and poise to overcome their Leinster rivals in a high-stakes, high-quality encounter.
Division 3 saw an emphatic performance from the Belfast trio of Andrew Gibson, Vladimir Brzak, and Andrew McCrory. The team cruised to victory with a series of commanding straight-set wins, setting the tone for the rest of the day.
Division 1 and 2 offered tighter contests, both going right down to the final match. In Division 1, Belfast’s Mark McAllister, Ben Watson, and Joe Sheard held their nerve, with Joe sealing the win thanks to a convincing performance against Leinster’s John Smith.
Over in Division 2, rising star VJ Milo stole the spotlight. Dropping just one set throughout the day, Milo’s composed final victory secured a 5–4 result and the overall win for Belfast.
The event wrapped up with an awards ceremony and hospitality at The Pavilion, bringing a celebratory close to a fantastic day of competition. Special thanks go to Jimmy Sterling and his team for their excellent organisation and officiating throughout.
